MCAT Workshops
StudyTime NZ are running a set of workshops in October for NCEA students studying Science, English or Maths.  The workshops are run, in conjunction with Inspiration Education, a Wellington-based tutoring company.  Our mission is to help students around New Zealand reach their full potential in their NCEA assessments.

The workshops will take place in the Term 3 Holidays between Monday 2nd October - Tuesday 10th October, consisting of study sessions from 9am to 4.30pm (with breaks) covering the three external standards for each subject. They will consist of an interactive presentation from our expert subject tutors focusing on reinforcing the important content, subject summary notes and worksheets with questions covering achieved, merit and excellence, with answers and full working provided.

Delivered by our passionate team of experienced tutors who have, or are pursuing higher education degrees, our workshops will help students build on the good work that schools and teachers have done in preparing students for the upcoming NCEA examinations. The combination of our subject specific and study skills workshop can help students excel in their exam preparation and guide them closer to their NCEA goals.

There is more information about our workshops at http://studytime.co.nz/wellington-workshops-2017/.

Write like an Author School Holiday Camp
An internationally acclaimed writing course that teaches young writers the skills and techniques that professional authors use to create their stories.

During the camp, each participant will develop and write an original creative story under the guidance of well-known author and writing coach Brian Falkner.  Brian is an internationally published children’s author with fifteen books published in more than thirteen countries. He won the New Zealand Young Adult Book Award last year, and was shortlisted for the same award this year.

The camp will be held during the school holidays, starting on Monday 9th October 2017 and running until Thursday 12th October 2017.  The camp is non-residential, and runs from 9am – 4pm each day.

The camp is for enthusiastic young writers to develop their natural writing and story-telling talents. It is ideal for young people who have a dream of becoming a published author or anyone who wants to improve their writing skills.

The number of places on the camp is strictly limited and is also open to students from other local schools, so we recommend that you register early if your child is interested in attending the camp.

Students will need to bring their own device (a laptop or tablet to write their stories on).

The course fee is just $195.00 (with early registration).

Seeking families to host international demi-pair students
My name is Charlotte Wells and I am working with international students at the English Language School ETC English Teaching College. An important aspect of our international student programme is our Demi-pair training scheme which helps match European students wanting to obtain childcare experience and gain an understanding of New Zealand cultural practices with busy families in New Zealand who need an extra pair of hands for childcare and other household tasks such as cooking and shopping! The students mostly work as volunteers in exchange for full board as well as meals with the family.

This has been a very successful scheme with Demi-pair students and their families creating long term relationships and we have even had students extending their visits and coming back to New Zealand to visit their families! We do have a large intake of students coming every few months and at the moment we are looking for some friendly and hospitable families who can host our Demi-pair students.

Please see the attachment for more information.
